Joe Basile
Joe Basile comes to this memoir with a life already marked by responsibility, grief, resilience, and reinvention. Long before the accident in St. Barths, he had learned that life does not always move in a straight line. He grew up in Clifton, New Jersey, on a quiet dead-end street where neighbors knew one another and work started early. He delivered newspapers, took odd jobs, and absorbed the kind of lessons that did not need speeches. His father showed him what discipline looked like. Life showed him, much too early, how quickly everything could change.
As an adult, Joe built a strong career in the audio and video world and eventually started his own company, The Media Room. He took pride in doing careful work, treating customers fairly, and building something that reflected his own standards. That same instinct for order, effort, and responsibility shaped the rest of his life, too. He was a husband, a father, a provider, and later a man who found love again at a time when life had started to feel open in a new way.
What stands out most about Joe as a writer is that he never sounds like he is reaching. He tells the truth in a steady voice. That steadiness gives Plane Truth its emotional force. The more you read, the more you trust him, and that trust is what makes the story land.
